The machine wraps bottles, cartons, and bundles in a heat shrink film to form a tight and tamper evident outer pack.<\/p><h2><strong>2.0 \u041e\u0411\u041b\u0410\u0421\u0422\u042c \u041f\u0420\u0418\u041c\u0415\u041d\u0415\u041d\u0418\u042f:<\/strong><\/h2><p>This Procedure covers the Shrink Wrapping Machine on the packing line. It applies to all product formats that move through that line for final shrink wrapping.<\/p><h2><strong>3.0 \u041e\u0422\u0412\u0415\u0422\u0421\u0422\u0412\u0415\u041d\u041d\u041e\u0421\u0422\u042c:<\/strong><\/h2><p>Packing Operator &amp; Line Supervisor<\/p><h2><strong>4.0 \u041e\u0422\u0412\u0415\u0422\u0421\u0422\u0412\u0415\u041d\u041d\u041e\u0421\u0422\u042c:<\/strong><\/h2><p>Packing In-Charge.<\/p><h2><strong>5.0 \u041f\u0420\u041e\u0426\u0415\u0414\u0423\u0420\u0410:<\/strong><\/h2><p>5.1 Walk up to the machine and look it over. Make sure the &#8220;CLEANED&#8221; tag is still on the frame before any work begins.<\/p><p>5.2 Fill in the opening details on the Machine Log Book. Put down your name, the product code, the batch number, the date, and the time you started.<\/p><p>5.3 Pull off the &#8220;CLEANED&#8221; tag and hang up the &#8220;UNDER PROCESS&#8221; tag on the same hook.<\/p><p>5.4 Ask the IPQA team for a Line Clearance. Hold off on the run until the signed clearance reaches the machine.<\/p><h3><strong>5.5 \u041f\u0440\u0430\u0432\u0438\u043b\u0430 \u0442\u0435\u0445\u043d\u0438\u043a\u0438 \u0431\u0435\u0437\u043e\u043f\u0430\u0441\u043d\u043e\u0441\u0442\u0438:<\/strong><\/h3><p>5.5.1 The sealing bar and the tunnel get very hot during the run. The bar sits around 180\u00b0C. The tunnel runs up to 200\u00b0C inside. Do not touch either surface with bare hands.<\/p><p>5.5.2 Keep fingers clear of the sealing jaw when the cycle runs. The jaw shuts under spring or air pressure. A finger caught in it can be badly crushed.<\/p><p>5.5.3 The heat tunnel has a hot air blower inside. Hot air blows out of the tunnel entry and exit. Stand to the side of the tunnel, never right in front of it.<\/p><p>5.5.4 Hot film gives off a faint chemical smell when it shrinks. A small amount is normal. A strong smell or visible smoke means the tunnel is too hot. Stop the run and call the engineer.<\/p><p>5.5.5 Do not reach into the film drive rollers while the machine is powered. Rollers can pull in loose sleeves, hair, or jewelry without warning.<\/p><p>5.5.6 Handle film off cuts with care. The cut edges can be sharp enough to slice skin.<\/p><p>5.5.7 Keep the area around the tunnel exit clear. Hot packs drop out here, and staff walking past can burn themselves on a fresh pack.<\/p><p>5.5.8 PPE for this machine is a lab coat, heat resistant gloves for any tunnel work, safety glasses, and closed toe shoes. Add a hair net when near the conveyor.<\/p><p>5.5.9 Run the weekly safety check below and file the signed record:<\/p><p>5.5.9.1 Throw the main isolator. Confirm the HMI goes dark within a few seconds.<\/p><p>5.5.9.2 Press the emergency stop. The sealing jaw and the conveyor must both halt at once.<\/p><p>5.5.9.3 Open each guard door one by one. The drive has to cut out each time.<\/p><p>5.5.9.4 Test the tunnel over temperature cut out. Raise the set point slightly above the trip limit and confirm the heaters shut down at the trip value.<\/p><p>5.5.9.5 Sign the Weekly Safety Record when the check is complete.<\/p><h3><strong>5.6 \u041d\u0430\u0441\u0442\u0440\u043e\u0439\u043a\u0430 \u0441\u0442\u0430\u043d\u043a\u0430:<\/strong><\/h3><h4><strong><b>5.6.1 Film Reel Holder:<\/b><\/strong><\/h4><p>5.6.1.1 Before any film goes on the machine, run five empty cycles to confirm the conveyor timing matches the sealing bar stroke. Fix any timing issue before the reel is loaded.<\/p><p>5.6.1.2 Pick up the correct film reel for the batch. The film type, the width, and the gauge all have to match the pack size on the batch record.<\/p><p>5.6.1.3 Slide the reel onto the shaft and push it up to the flange. Tighten the locking ring so the reel cannot slip sideways during the run.<\/p><p>5.6.1.4 Feed the film through the guide rollers in the order shown on the threading label. A film threaded in the wrong order will wrinkle at the sealing bar.<\/p><p>5.6.1.5 Set the film tension using the brake knob on the reel holder. Loose film will sag. Over tight film will snap mid run.<\/p><p>5.6.1.6 Jog the machine slowly and watch the film edge for a full minute. A slow side drift means the reel is out of square and has to be reseated.<\/p><h4><strong><b>5.6.2 Conveyor and Infeed:<\/b><\/strong><\/h4><p>5.6.2.1 Set the conveyor speed on the HMI to match the required output. A typical shrink line runs at 20 to 40 packs per minute.<\/p><p>5.6.2.2 Adjust the infeed guide rails to the width of the product. A gap of about 2 mm on each side is the right clearance.<\/p><p>5.6.2.3 Check that the photo eye at the infeed is clean. A dusty photo eye can miss products or trigger false cycles.<\/p><p>5.6.2.4 Load one test product and watch its path through the infeed. The product must enter the film tube square to the direction of travel.<\/p><h4><strong>5.6.3 Sealing Station:<\/strong><\/h4><p>5.6.3.1 The sealing station uses a heated L bar or a side seal jaw, depending on the machine model. The bar cuts and seals the film in one motion.<\/p><p>5.6.3.2 Set the bar temperature on the HMI. The right range is 160 to 200\u00b0C for polyolefin film. PVC film runs cooler at around 140 to 160\u00b0C.<\/p><p>5.6.3.3 Give the bar 10 to 15 minutes to warm up from cold. Running a pack before the bar is at set point will leave a weak seal.<\/p><p>5.6.3.4 Check the Teflon cover on the bar. A worn or torn cover leaves drag marks on the seal. Swap the cover before the run if it looks damaged.<\/p><p>5.6.3.5 Set the dwell time. The bar should stay down on the film for 0.5 to 1.5 seconds depending on film thickness.<\/p><h4><strong><b>5.6.4 Shrink Tunnel:<\/b><\/strong><\/h4><p>5.6.4.1 The shrink tunnel uses hot air from a blower to shrink the film around the pack. Two factors drive the shrink result: tunnel temperature and belt speed.<\/p><p>5.6.4.2 Set the tunnel temperature on the HMI. A range of 150 to 190\u00b0C suits most films, with higher values for thicker film.<\/p><p>5.6.4.3 Let the tunnel reach its set point before any pack enters. The warm up time from cold is around 10 to 20 minutes.<\/p><p>5.6.4.4 Set the tunnel belt speed so each pack spends 8 to 12 seconds inside. Too fast gives a loose pack. Too slow scorches the film.<\/p><p>5.6.4.5 Confirm that the tunnel exhaust fan is running. The fan pulls fumes out of the tunnel and keeps the air around the machine safe to breathe.<\/p><h3><strong>5.7 Film Selection:<\/strong><\/h3><p>5.7.1 The correct film type has to be chosen for each product. A wrong film will either fail to seal or shrink too tightly and crush the pack.<\/p><p>5.7.2 Three film types are in common use at the site:<\/p><p>5.7.2.1 Polyolefin (POF): the default film for most pharma packs. It is non toxic, easy to seal, and gives a clear shrink finish.<\/p><p>5.7.2.2 PVC: used for lower cost packs. PVC gives off hydrogen chloride when overheated, so tunnel control has to be strict.<\/p><p>5.7.2.3 Polyethylene (PE): used for heavy bundles and multi pack groups. PE needs a higher shrink temperature and a longer tunnel dwell.<\/p><p>5.7.3 Each reel must carry a supplier certificate of analysis. Check the certificate against the batch record before the reel goes on the machine.<\/p><p>5.7.4 Store spare reels in a dry place below 25\u00b0C. Film stored in hot or damp conditions loses its shrink memory and gives poor results.<\/p><h3><strong>5.8 HMI Panel:<\/strong><\/h3><p>5.8.1 The HMI on the machine is a color touch screen placed at the front of the sealing station. The screen talks to the PLC through a serial link.<\/p><p>5.8.2 Turn the HMI on at the key switch. The boot up takes about 30 seconds.<\/p><p>5.8.3 Sign in with your own user ID. The system stores every action under your ID for the audit trail.<\/p><p>5.8.4 The main screen offers six tiles: Product, Temperature, Speed, Counters, Alarms, and Diagnostics.<\/p><p>5.8.4.1 Product: holds the recipe for each item, including film type and pack size.<\/p><p>5.8.4.2 Temperature: shows the live sealing bar and tunnel temperatures with a trend over the last hour.<\/p><p>5.8.4.3 Speed: sets the conveyor and the tunnel belt speed.<\/p><p>5.8.4.4 Counters: displays the pack count, the good count, and the reject count for the current shift.<\/p><p>5.8.4.5 Alarms: lists any active fault with the clearing steps next to each one.<\/p><p>5.8.4.6 Diagnostics: tools for the engineer to check sensor input and test drive outputs.<\/p><p>5.8.5 The Counters tile updates in real time. A sudden fall in the good count means the reject rate is climbing and needs attention.<\/p><p>5.8.6 Log off the HMI at the end of your shift. An idle session locks itself after 15 minutes to keep the settings safe.<\/p><h3><strong>5.9 Running the Batch:<\/strong><\/h3><p>5.9.1 Confirm that the sealing bar and the tunnel are both at set point. The Temperature tile turns green once both values are in range.<\/p><p>5.9.2 Load the product recipe from the Product tile. Cross check each parameter against the Batch Packing Record (BPR).<\/p><p>5.9.3 Run ten test packs at low speed. Inspect each one for seal quality, shrink tightness, and film clarity.<\/p><p>5.9.4 Weigh one test pack on a calibrated balance. A normal shrink wrap adds between 2 and 6 grams of film to the pack.<\/p><p>5.9.5 Ramp the conveyor up to full speed only after the test packs meet all checks. A rushed start often leads to a run of bad packs.<\/p><p>5.9.6 Sample five packs every 30 minutes during the run. Check the seal, the shrink, and the print on each sample pack.<\/p><p>5.9.7 Keep a running eye on the Counters tile. A climbing reject rate often points to a film fault, a bar fault, or a drifting tunnel temperature.<\/p><p>5.9.8 Do not change any parameter during the run without line supervisor approval. Any unapproved change is a deviation.<\/p><h3><strong>5.10 Defect Types and Rejects:<\/strong><\/h3><p>5.10.1 A shrink wrapper produces several classic defects. Each one has a likely root cause.<\/p><p>5.10.2 Common defects on shrink wrapped packs include:<\/p><p>5.10.2.1 Loose or baggy film: the tunnel is too cool or the belt moves too fast.<\/p><p>5.10.2.2 Burn holes in the film: the tunnel is too hot or the belt moves too slow.<\/p><p>5.10.2.3 Weak seal that peels apart: the sealing bar is too cool or the dwell time is too short.<\/p><p>5.10.2.4 Scorched seal line: the sealing bar is too hot or the dwell time is too long.<\/p><p>5.10.2.5 Dog ears (sharp film corners): normal for L bar sealers and not a reject unless the corners tear.<\/p><p>5.10.2.6 Film drift: the reel is not square on the shaft, or the tension is wrong.<\/p><p>5.10.3 Drop any defective pack into the reject bin next to the tunnel exit. Do not mix a defective pack with good stock.<\/p><p>5.10.4 Sort the rejects at shift end into rework, scrap, and sample groups. Log each group on the Reject Ledger.<\/p><p>5.10.5 A reject rate above 2% is a signal to stop the line and investigate. Long runs with high reject rates waste film and delay the batch.<\/p><h3><strong>5.11 End of Shift:<\/strong><\/h3><p>5.11.1 Press Stop on the HMI. Let the last pack in the tunnel come out before any further action.<\/p><p>5.11.2 Set the tunnel temperature to zero. The tunnel takes 20 to 30 minutes to cool down to safe touch temperature.<\/p><p>5.11.3 Turn the sealing bar heater off. Leave the bar in the up position so the Teflon cover does not stick.<\/p><p>5.11.4 Cut the film and tape the free end to the reel.
