Professional supplier of overall solutions for pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging

FTV-V series Shape Mixer /blender

The V-Shape Mixer is specifically designed for the pharmaceutical, healthcare and high-tech chemical industries. It has a multi-V-shaped stirring paddle structure to achieve rapid homogenous mixing of powders, granules and micro-powder materials. Mixing uniformity reaches 99% or more, with a residual amount of less than 0.1%, meeting GMP standards. The mixer can support volumes of 5 liters to 2,000 liters of both powder and liquid material mixing.

Other abilities are raw material premixing, tablet filling, and capsule compounding. It has high efficiency and energy-saving features, simple operation and easy cleaning, and is suitable for small to medium-sized manufacturers.

FAQ

Application Powder Types

1. It features a simple structure, closed operation, convenient manual or vacuum feeding and discharging, and a stainless steel barrel for easy cleaning.

2. Suitable for mixing powders and granules with good material fluidity, small physical property differences, and low mixing requirements, but a short mixing time.

3. Since the V-shaped mixing container allows materials to flow smoothly and maintains their original shape, it is suitable for mixing granular materials that often break or wear down, as well as finer powders, blocks, and materials containing a little water.

4. The machine has a motor and a reducer installed at one end; the motor power is transmitted to the reducer through a belt, then transmitted to the V-shaped barrel through a coupling. The barrel continuously drives the materials up, down, left and right.

5. It is suitable for the pharmaceutical, chemical, and food industries.

What is a V-Shape Mixer used for?
What is a V-Shape Mixer used for?

V-Shape Mixers are primarily used for the homogeneous blending of dry powders and granules. Their gentle tumbling action is ideal for industries like pharmaceuticals, food, chemicals, and cosmetics where uniform mixing without particle degradation is critical.

How does a V-Shape Mixer work?
How does a V-Shape Mixer work?

It works by rotating two cylindrical shells joined at a 75° to 90° angle, forming a "V" shape. As the V rotates, the material splits and recombines at the intersection with each revolution, creating a highly efficient 3D tumbling and diffusive mixing action with no mechanical agitators.

What are the key advantages of a V-Blender?
What are the key advantages of a V-Blender?
  • Gentle Mixing: Perfect for fragile, coated, or easily degradable materials.

  • High Homogeneity: Achieves excellent uniformity for free-flowing solids.

  • Easy to Clean & Unload: Smooth internal surfaces and large valves allow for quick cleaning and complete discharge.

  • Versatile: Can be fitted with an intensifier bar (chopper) for breaking lumps or adding minor liquid components.

  • Scalable: Mixing efficiency is consistent from laboratory-scale to large production models.

How do I choose the right size (capacity)?
How do I choose the right size (capacity)?

V-Mixers are sized by their total volume, but for optimal mixing, the working volume should typically be 50-60% of the total capacity. Under-filling (<30%) or over-filling (>70%) can significantly reduce mixing efficiency.

How long does a mixing cycle take?
How long does a mixing cycle take?

Cycle times are typically short, often between 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the material characteristics and desired homogeneity. It's much faster than many other types of static blenders.

Are V-Mixers suitable for pharmaceutical (GMP) applications?
Are V-Mixers suitable for pharmaceutical (GMP) applications?

Absolutely. They are a standard in pharmaceutical manufacturing. GMP models feature:

  • Stainless steel 316L construction

  • Polished internal surfaces (Ra < 0.4 µm)

  • CIP/SIP (Clean-in-Place/Sterilize-in-Place) systems

  • Validatable design with full documentation

How do I clean a V-Shape Mixer?
How do I clean a V-Shape Mixer?

Cleaning is straightforward:

  1. Dry Cleaning: Use vacuum systems or lint-free cloths.

  2. Wet Cleaning (CIP): Spray balls can be installed for automated cleaning and rinsing.

  3. Disassembly: Manholes allow for manual access if needed. The simple interior design minimizes hidden areas.

What maintenance is required?
What maintenance is required?

Maintenance is minimal:

  • Regularly check and lubricate the main rotation bearings and gearbox.

  • Inspect the seals on the discharge valve and sight glasses.

  • If equipped, check the intensifier bar seals and blades for wear.

  • Follow the manufacturer's schedule for major drive component servicing.

Can liquids be added in a V-Mixer?
Can liquids be added in a V-Mixer?

Yes, but only in very small quantities (typically 1-5%), and it is highly recommended to use it in conjunction with an intensifier bar. The liquid should be added slowly through a spray nozzle during mixing. For significant liquid-solid mixing, a different blender type is better.
